Bristol Glass Vase / 1800s Victorian Opaline

$119.20 $149.00

ITEM # 091608 (Box-2)

Antique Victorian 1800's Bristol glass in a desirable green opaline vase with a boat scene. Vase measures 8 7/8" tall.

Very good antique condition with typical wear due to age and handling. No chips, cracks etc in glass, just typical straw marks and air bubbles from the early hand blown manufacturing process. The decoration does have the small transfer loss, as shown in photo of closeup. The rim most likely had gold gilt, which is worn away. The gold gilt applied medallions on the vase are in good condition with some slight loss as well. Just being accurate in my descriptions, as this is typical wear for glass this age.

Bristol glass was made in Bristol, England, by the 1800's. The Bristol glass most often seen today is a Victorian, lightweight opaque glass. Some of the glass was decorated with enamels. Bristol glass is known for its hand-painted botanical decorations
